Steve Altes, a model, actor, writer, and former rocket scientist from Centreville, Virginia, appeared on the U.S. version of the show on April 18, 2002. Steve won $32,000 after missing his $125,000 question.

After appearing on Millionaire, Steve appeared on a number of different game shows: He was a contestant on Jeopardy! in 2003, losing to 6-day champ Sean Ryan in Sean's third game and winning $1,000 for third place. In 2006, Steve appeared on the short-lived show StarFace and won a trip to Hawaii. Steve then won $5,000 on another short-lived show, Camouflage, in 2007, and another $5,000 on Wheel of Fortune in 2019. Most recently, Steve appeared as a contestant on The Price is Right on January 4, 2023.
