Sherman Hemsley (February 1, 1938 – July 24, 2012) was known for his role as George Jefferson in "All in the Family and its spinoff "The Jeffersons" was a contestant on the U.S. version of the show on the Classic TV Edition of the show on March 23, 2001. Sherman won $125,000 for his charity, "We Are Alive".
