Peter Kloeppel (October 14, 1958) is a German journalist and former chief editor of RTL Television, who was a celebrity contestant in the first celebrity special episode of Wer wird Millionär? on November 30, 2000 and won DM 500,000. In second time, he appeared on November 23, 2006 and won €500,000.

Small Biography[]

After completing his Abitur (qualification granted at the end of secondary education) in Bad Homburg in 1977, he studied agriculture in Göttingen and then attended the Henri-Nannen-School in Hamburg from 1983 to 1985, making his first experiences with RTL.

After becoming the network's first correspondent in New York, covering the Gulf War in 1990 and 1991, Kloeppel took the role of head anchor of the RTL evening news in 1992. He stayed in that role, until his retirement in 2024. Between 2004 to 2014 he also took the role of RTL chief editor.

Kloeppel gained fame for his enduring coverage of 9/11, for which he was awarded with the Grimme Price and received an Emmy nomination!
