The success of Ai Là Triệu Phú (WWTBAM Vietnam) has provided plenty of opportunities for various shows and films to parody or have their characters make appearances on Millionaire as a (sub)plot.

Gala Cười 2007 (Laugh Gala 2007)

In 2007 Lunar New Year, Tự Long appeared. Before he appeared as a contestant in his parody run, he had a short conversation with the host Đức Hải (Laugh Gala host) about his personal stories and the show (followed with a skit). Although the game was just like the Ai Là Triệu Phú, host Đức Hải didn't say the name "Ai Là Triệu Phú" during the full run (probably the show didn't want to make an uncopyright show, although some cues from the real show were still used).

Camera Công Sở (Camera Café)

In the 235th episode of the sitcom, Lập Trình appeared in Ai Là Triệu Phú as a contestant. Before he went to Hanoi for the show, he said that he wanted to bring his cat for luckiness. Unfortunately for him, his cat went on an illness and cannot go with him. Because of that he stated that he will stay at home as his cat was really important to him, without that he couldn't live. The boss, Trần Huỳnh, encourage him to play without his cat. During his run, he used his Phone-a-Friend lifeline on the 10th question. Trần Huỳnh was his Phone-a-Friend friend. That episode the host was ill (due to the cold weather) and a fill-up host appeared. Unfortunately for Trần Huỳnh, Lập Trình only asked: My cat was ill, is there any hospital in Hanoi? The time ran out, and Trần Huỳnh and his colleagues moaned, ending the episode.

Một Ngày Với VTV (A Day With VTV)

On September 6, 2013, singer Phương Thanh participated in a simulated game (a skit of the 43rd VTV's anniversary special show "A day with VTV"), with Đức Khuê as the host. She "simulatedly" answered all 15 questions correctly and became a "Millionaire". Also, she won the top prize of "working as an editor of Ai Là Triệu Phú for a day".

Điều ước thứ 7 (Saturday wishes)

As a part of the December 6, 2014 episode of Điều ước thứ 7 (Saturday wishes), contestant Kim Lành played Ai Là Triệu Phú in her backyard in Đà Nẵng. Host Lại Văn Sâm also appeared there. Instead of 15 questions, she had to answer only 5 questions (all of them are about soccer), with the secret prize on each question instead of money prize. If she gave the correct answer for each question, or won a challenge, she would be awarded the question's prize. If she answered correctly all 5 questions, she would be awarded all 5 prizes. There were 5 lifelines, along with the original 4, the 5th lifeline was Hỏi MC, which basically predated Ask The Host lifeline in the 2018 revival of the UK version (One exception is when she used this lifeline, the host automatically read the correct answer, and she didn't have to make her "final answer".). In the end, she won 4 prizes: A soccer ball with Lại Văn Sâm's signature, A Manchester United clothing set, A chance to force the host to do anything, and a ticket to the Malaysia vs. Vietnam friendly football match.

Note: Because Kim Lành is a huge fan of soccer, all of the questions and prizes are all related to soccer.

Ai Là Trợ Lý? (Who is The Sidekick?)

During a part of the Gặp Nhau Cuối Năm/Táo Quân 2015 (Year-end Gathering 2015) special, Ngọc Hoàng (performed by Quốc Khánh) requested to find for him the third sidekick in the zenith along with Nam Tào and Bắc Đẩu. 5 contestants appeared: Táo Thổ (performed by Chí Trung, said to be coming from 11 Ngô Thì Nhậm street, Hanoi); Táo Mộc (performed by Tự Long, said to be coming from Đồng Kỵ, Bắc Ninh); Táo Thủy (performed by Vân Dung, said to be coming from Thanh Hóa, right to the Tào bridge); Táo Kim (performed by Minh Hằng, said to be coming from the birthplace of Cu Đơ candy - Hà Tĩnh) and Táo Hỏa (performed by Quang Thắng, said to be coming from Đồ Sơn, Hải Phòng). The Fastest Finger First here will not be played with the computers and all contestants read out loud their answer one by one.

The first Fastest Finger First question was "Translate this sentence from Thai into Vietnamese". After 4 other contestants answered incorrectly, the host Xuân Bắc (as Nam Tào in "Year-end Gathering") asked if Táo Mộc (Tự Long) had the answer. Táo Mộc asked in an angry mood: "This sentence is meaningless, I will not answer!". Coincidentally, that sentence was correct, Táo Mộc made it to the "Hot Seat" (with the time of 10.34 seconds, according to Nam Tào).

After Táo Mộc's run. 4 remaining contestants got their second Fastest Finger First question, which was "What's Ngọc Hoàng's real name?". Táo Thủy replied: "Ngọc Hoàng is Ngọc Hoàng" and coincidentally made it to the "Hot Seat".

She struggled on this question and have to call her "brother-in-law" Phan Lang (sounded like Xuân Bắc), but Phan Lang didn't help her to answer the question due to his business trip overseas. She then took a wild guess, but she got it wrong, she went home with absolutely nothing and lost the chance to be Ngọc Hoàng's sidekick.

3 remaining contestants have to stand up to answer their third Fastest Finger First question, which was "What's the name of Bắc Đẩu (performed by Công Lý)'s neighbour?". All 3 remaining contestants struggled on that question, and one of them advised not to play the game. Táo Hỏa answered No in English, but unfortunately for him, Bắc Đẩu's neighbour's name is Lê Hồng No. After a moment when he went on an angry mood, he started his run.

At first, Táo Hỏa locked in his answer as "Died early", because according to him, if the consumerists taken the poisonous food, they could "die early"; if the seller was caught and received capital punishment due to her dirty jobs, that could also resulting her early death. However, as Nam Tào explained that the question was a kind of question asked to the 3rd grader, Táo Hỏa declined to answer this question because he said that this question made no sense at all. After that, Ngọc Hoàng decided to change the game. Ai là trợ lý ended and was replaced with Ơn giời, táo đây rồi! (literally, "Thank god, apple here!"), which was the parody version of Ơn Giời, Cậu Đây Rồi (Thank God, You're Here). As of now, there are no correct answer to this question at all.

VTV Awards 2015

In the beginning of the VTV Awards 2015, a skit involved Ai Là Triệu Phú was shown in the beginning. Host was Professor Cù Trọng Xoay (a.k.a Đinh Tiến Dũng - later became regular host) and Thành Lộc (a celebrity who also hosted Rồng Vàng) appeared as the contestant. There were only 1 question for the top prize of ₫450,000,000, and there were only 1 lifeline, which is "Hỏi người dẫn chương trình" (Ask the Host).

The question is, name all the television programs that the Vietnamese Television ever broadcast. He then answered the question by singing a song that includes almost all of the programs (surprisingly both the host and the contestant sang). After that the host said that he named a small part of all television programs that the Vietnamese Television ever broadcast, and the show ended, followed by another song.

Host Phan Đăng appeared in Ai Là Triệu Phú as both the host and contestant. He answered fourteen questions correctly and save two of his four lifelines (50:50 and Ask the Audience). This is his Top Prize Question.

He said that the Rat was greedy, looks like vandalism, and the mouse appeared on the wedding card was friendly. He think A and B, so he used his Ask the Audience lifeline. However, both 4 answers had 25% people choose, so he used 50:50. The computer elimated A and C, so he choose D. After the correct answer was revealed, he won The Mouse's Wedding picture and also became the third fictional winner. Later the picture was given to host Lại Văn Sâm (former Ai Là Triệu Phú host) to show to grandfather Xuân Bắc and grandmother Tự Long.

Quảng Trường Những Giấc Mơ (The Square of Dreams)

A skit based on Ai Là Triệu Phú appeared as part of "Quảng Trường Những Giấc Mơ" (The Square of Dreams), the special that celebrated 25 years of VTV3. Here, it was called Ai Là Tỷ Phú (Who Is The Billionaire?). Like the skit on VTV Awards 2015, this one was hosted by Đinh Tiến Dũng, the current host of the actual show. Tự Long appeared as a contestant once again. In his run, there were two questions. The fictional top prize was ₫1,000,000,000. Tự Long answered all of his questions correctly, but was unable to have the cheque of the top prize because the klaxon had called time before Đinh Tiến Dũng was able to give it to him.

Interestingly, this skit used some elements from the Olga van den Brandt graphics, which were the background (only used for Tự Long's Phone-a-Friend lifeline, during Quang Thắng's video call.) and the question graphics. Former host Lại Văn Sâm also appeared in the audience.

Gala Cười 2023 (Laugh Gala 2023)

16 years after a skit of Ai Là Triệu Phú appeared on the first time in Gala Cười (Laugh Gala), there was another skit of the show appears on Gala Cười under the name "Ai là người hạnh phúc?" (Who is the happy person?). The host of this show was Lý Chí Huy, with People's Artists Đặng Quang Thắng and Vân Dung as contestants and Thái Sơn appeared to sell medicine during the commercial break.

In the first round, they would answer 3 questions with the prize amount increasing gradually and accumulated through the questions. They had two lifelines: 50:50 and Phone-a-Friend, while Ask the Audience and Switch the Question only appeared on the screen and had no effect.

They think this question is hard, so they went with the choices of their own. Quang Thắng suggested A and C, while Vân Dung suggested B. However, they chose D instead much to everyone's surprise, turns out it was revealed to be the correct answer and they banked ₫300,000,000. With ₫300,000,000 in hand, Quang Thắng started to split the winnings to support his family, but he only use ₫200,000,000 to split into both of their families, but Vân Dung only suggests ₫1,000,000 for that. Chí Huy then asks if they want to walk away, but they still want to continue.

Quang Thắng was very confident that C would be the right answer, so he locked in that answer. That was the right answer and Vân Dung started to get mad on Quang Thắng because of his habit of going into that district every night in his life after work. He then started to get very deep into the details of the district. Chí Huy announces that they banked ₫700,000,000. After this question, the show went to a commercial break within the medicine scene. Chí Huy tells that they wouldn't continue if they doesn't purchase the medicine.

Vân Dung thought that this question was some kind of relating to the Road to Mount Olympia (Vietnamese version of Digital LG Quiz) but she misnamed the show into Đưa nhau lên đỉnh (Together reaching the peak), and Quang Thắng corrected the show's name. Chí Huy said that Olympia is not related to this show and this question could bank them ₫1,000,000,000. Quang Thắng used Phone-a-Friend on this question and attempting to call Prof. Tống Đức Thuận, however the time on this run short (because the timer was started right when the professor hang the call), and the timer ran out when Quang Thắng is about to give the question and four possible choices to him (because the show's time is limited). He then chooses 50:50, but when the lifeline is being activated, the wrong answer cue was played instead of the usual 50:50 cue. Vân Dung asked that if they would win anything if they get the question wrong, but Chí Huy said that they will leave with nothing if they get it wrong. Vân DUng is about to punish Quang Thắng for wasting too much time to talk about Prof. Tống Đức Thuận and saying "AAAA...", Chí Huy automatically recognizes that they locked A and it was the right answer. They banked the last ₫1,000,000,000 and making their current total ₫2,000,000,000. The correct answer also played a wrong answer cue instead, and another commercial break was announced before the second round.

In the second round, they would answer 1 question for each and 1 for both, with only true or false answer with facts, which was checked by two lie detectors that were put on their head each.

This was Quang Thắng's demo question. When he is about to answer this question, he then suddently feel his stomache growling. He pretended to get stomachache, and he was saying a part of his explanation "My wedding date is February 14..." in which Vân Dung falsely believed him saying that and Quang Thắng must tried hard to get the explanation right. He answers that the date was Valentine's Day and their wedding date was 4 days after, so he locked in the right answer for this question. After this question, Vân Dung had a call and hanged in, started to talk gibberish into them in the public view.

This was Quang Thắng's question. Vân Dung believed that he was her first love, but Quang Thắng said otherwise. He first joked about stomachache and headache, then started to reveal the truth that Vân Dung wasn't his first love. Vân Dung started to place his first warning on him, but he announced in the right time. After being revealed that this was the correct answer, Vân Dung believed that he betrayed her in 30 years of their life for saying she was his first love, among with their whole family. As Vân Dung is still fighting for Quang Thắng, Chí Huy announces that they banked ₫2,000,000,000 for this question, making their total ₫4,000,000,000. Vân Dung is happy for this cash but still being mad for Quang Thắng for revealing the truth, she'll deal with him later after the show and uses all of their winnings to find his true first love.

This was Vân Dung's question. Quang Thắng said that this show always bringing difficult-changing questions and believed that this was a true statement. Chí Huy then automatically locks in Vân Dung's answer as Yes but she thinks otherwise, she thinks the show is very hot but Chí Huy said that the studio is very cold, asking the outdoor temperature and having time to rethink about herself, just to stop him from automatically locking down her answer, just to be a shame that she doesn't want to get this wrong and lost everything. Chí Huy named Quang Thắng's son from their registration document and declaring the answer from Vân Dung. Quang Thắng forced her to say this or he will get mad, but she answer 70-30 first then 50-50, much to his disappointment. He said that before they played this show, their son is indeed 100% but when they played $\frac{2}{3}$ of their run is 70-30 and near the end is 50-50, and chasing Chí Huy away to declare the right answer but commercial breaks went out all of a sudden, and finally Vân Dung locked in the answer and answered correctly. Throughout this question (even when announcing answer), a 30 seconds Phone-a-Friend cue is being heard in looped. Thanks to this answer, they doubled the bank and making their total ₫8,000,000,000. Chí Huy tells that they only have 1 question but wanted to walk away. If they do this, their winnings will drop down to ₫5,000,000 and must paid the debt. They don't have other choice but to play this final question to bring all the cash home.

This was both Quang Thắng and Vân Dung's question. They looked, smiled at each other, held hands and decided to walk away without answering the question although Chí Huy said this question was very easy to answer and easier than the other ones. They said the happy is very vague, abstract and can't be counted in number or money and each people have their own answer to this question. Finally, they won ₫5,000,000, but due to the medicine money they bought in the commericial break was ₫17,000,000, they had to pay Thái Sơn ₫12,000,000. Chí Huy also send a message of the show to everyone: "Husband and wife are predestined, and only when they hold hands for the rest of their lives can they answer the question of whether they are happy or not".

After this comedy, there are cues that's still being heard throughout the entire show, mostly the 30 seconds Phone-a-Friend cue being looped and the early ending PAF call cue.

Another parody run was aired on December 21, 2023 in this show. The host of this run was Minh Tân, with Thư Hiền as contestant. She was about to answer the 15th question with 2 remaining lifelines: 50:50 and Phone-a-Friend.

Lan Chi asked if that was 1954 or 1973 Paris Agreement, but the question was the 2015 one, and she said Netizen sound lurixiously before out of time. Finally, Thư Hiền locked in D because any year agreement was initiated and signed by humans. The correct answer wasn't announced right away, but this show's topic mentioned about Net Zero.

Ai là triệu phú Chế

The first out-of-VTV parody of WWTBAM Vietnam was called Ai là triệu phú chế (Who Is the Millionaire - Mocked-up version), released around 2008-2009 with audio only and was uploaded into various social networking websites. The show featured three nineteen-year-old teens, all from Hanoi; two of them were contestants who played for the top prize. However, it turned out that the show was a defraud, and the second contestant called back a studio audience member, who is a gangster, and beaten the host. The show, however, were suitable for mature audiences only as it featured coarsed languages and violent-themed materials. When the host was introducing himself, Weakest Link theme was played.

An animated version of the show was uploaded to YouTube on June 6, 2009. A live-action version was uploaded to YouTube by Pledger Moment on April 18, 2013, with the 2010 UK opening and some added commercials from YouTuber, filmmaker and actor JVevermind.

Ai là Phú (Who is the -aire?)

On the YouTube channel CaHoiTV, a parody version of Ai Là Triệu Phú called Ai là Phú (Who is the -aire?), which was premiered on 2017. The parody is about a contestant named Ca Hoi (Salmon, parody of John Carpenter), who answered the Penultimate Question correctly without using three main lifelines (50:50, Phone-a-Friend, and Ask the Audience), and also ready to see the Top Prize Question. However, when he tried to use the lifelines all of them didn't seem to work, also the show trolled him - the host, Lại Văn Vở (parody of Lại Văn Sâm, his real name was Long Hallo) said that the question is too hard for computer to remove 2 incorrect anwsers, the show had no audience, the host called help him when Ca Hoi using Phone-a-Friend, and the host also said that he will be indemnify if he walked away or answer incorrectly the Top Prize Question. He ended up answering the question. However, the correct answer was unknown as the parody ended. It is said on the 2018 version of the parody that he answered it wrong, and was given a second chance due to no contestant appeared on the show. Later, on 2019 version, the host said that Ca Hoi has answered the Top Prize Question correctly, but he returned to answer the 16th question instead of reaching the Top Prize.

In total, the show had 3 main lifelines: 50:50, Phone-a-Friend, and Ask the Audience. However, on 2018 version, the Ask the Audience was replaced by People Speak (although the Ask the Audience symbol was still shown on the screen). On 2019 version, a new parody lifeline called "Làm Hơi" (Cigarette) was added on the show. On this lifeline, contestant smoke to transfigurate as expert.

Ai Là Trọc Phú

Ai Là Trọc Phú (lit. Who is the vulgarian?) is a parody version of Ai Là Triệu Phú created by the Department of Culture & Organization of the FPT Group. First premiered in 2014 with comedians Phạm Quang Thọ (Thọ Vẩu) as host and Nguyễn Hà Trung (Trung Ruồi) as the main contestant, the show was later revived in 2018 to celebrating the 30th anniversary of FPT Group with host Đinh Công Sáng (Sáng Lòa). Unlike the television format, the FPT mock-up format has 50 questions, and contestants have to passed 10 threshold (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and finally 50) to be a "vulgarian". Most of the questions in Ai Là Trọc Phú are about activities inside the FPT Group, and all of the actors portrayed in the show are current or former employees at the FPT company.

Since then, there are also many mocked-up version of the show in Vietnam on the Internet, some of them are loosely based on these parodies.

Nhà trọ Balanha (Welcome to Waikiki)

In the 9th episode of the series, Bách (played by Xuân Nghị) went to the S16 studio of Vietnam Television Station (which was the studio of Ai Là Triệu Phú) to meet the director Quang (played by Phùng Cường), to say sorry to him for dating his girlfriend, Lan (portrayed by Thùy Anh). Lan then turned up and heard the whole conversation, went in an angry mood, and she, along with Quang, grab Bách up, and the episode went into an another skit.

Hành trình tri thức (Journey of Knowledge)

On a quizshow Hành trình Tri thức (Journey of Knowledge) that aired in the Hai Duong TV (THD) (a local television in Vietnam), the rhombus lozenge (which was the original Millionaire graphic style) was used.

Giờ vàng thể thao (Primetime Sports)

Quốc Khánh said D was his final answer, because he could barely choose other options, and Đinh Tiến Dũng (only his voice in this appearance) said that was the right answer. Quốc Khánh then congrated Hoàng Khanh (who was mentioned in this question) and his family that they can watch or he will be able to play at a U19 tournament next year. That part ended, and Quốc Khánh continued with his commentary.

Luật siêu dễ (Super Easy Law)

The brand new gameshow "Luật siêu dễ" (Super Easy Law), hosted by People's Artist Tự Long, broadcasted on VTV3 (the channel broadcasts Ai Là Triệu Phú) is taped at the S16 studio of Vietnam Television Station (which is the studio of Ai Là Triệu Phú).

During broadcast, there was a rule that after answer correctly the first three questions in a row, contestant can use a lifeline similar to Switch the Question if they think the fourth question that they choose before was very hard or have low cash prize. In season 3, the Phone-a-Friend was used in the show as a new lifeline. The different compared to this lifeline in WWTBAM was the friend is given unlimited time to provide input and give the answer they think is correct to the contestant before the call is cut off, similar to Plus One.
