Meryl Federman, from West Orange, NJ, was a contestant who appeared on Season 17 of the U.S. version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? on April 30, 2019 and left with $5,000 after missing the $50,000 question.
Meryl appeared on Jeopardy! for the 2007 Teen Tournament Summer Games, which she won after finishing the first day of the finals with $0; this made her the first person to win a tournament final after finishing with no money the first day, and she would be the only person to do so until Buzzy Cohen won his Tournament of Champions in 2017 in the same situation. Meryl’s father, Todd, would appear on the show in Season 29, but he was not as successful as his daughter, finishing second against future 4-day champion Jason Shore.
