Legyen Ön Is Milliomos! (Become a millionaire! (formal) or Legyél Te Is Milliomos! (Become A Millionaire! (informal); children's special) is a Hungarian version of game show that is based off the British version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. Aired from February 29, 2000 until March 25, 2013 on RTL II and RTL Klub. Presented by István Vágó (2000-2008), Sándor Fábry (2009-2010), Friderikusz Sándor (2012-2013), Gábor Gundel Takács (2019) and László Palik (2024-).

From February 29 until May 24, 2000, the show was aired every Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:50pm (UTC+1). From fall 2000, from Monday to Friday (every week) at 7pm (UTC+1) aired. In 2008, on Wednesdays episodes aired. From 2009 until 2010, one Thursday of month aired. In spring 2012, the episodes were broadcasted every Wednesday evening. From fall 2012 until spring 2013 the show was aired twice a week - on Mondays and Thursdays.

Since July 2017, RTL Gold channel daily broadcasts repeated episodes of the show.

TV2 announced on September 24, 2018 that the Legyen Ön Is Milliomos! is back, and reactivated January 2, 2019 with new host Gábor Gundel Takács.[1]

Children specials

In the history of the show, special children's episodes were also aired. Instead of cash winnings, children's contestants earned points (ponts). Won the points they could exchange for prizes. The cost of each prize was from 8 to 120 points. The prizes were different. The more points, the steeper the prize.

Parodies and spoofs

In 2000 and 2007, the studio shows were not real games in the Kész Átverés show. In first fake episode Töreki Erika, Pataki Attila, Ősz Csaba (as contestant), Neményi Szilvia, Kováts István, Bende Irén, Sándor Csaba, Gudics Andrea and Tamás István appeared. In 2007 fake episode Bogdán Bertold, Fekete Boglárka, Forgács Tamas, Csontos Péter, Farkas Anita, Fordokná Szabó Gabriella, Benedek Áron, Turóezi Enikő, Pirisi Gábor and Ország Mónika (as contestant) appeared.

On September 2, 2001, in the show Heti Hetes (Hungarian adaptation of the RTL talkshow '7 Tage 7 Köpfe'), a special episode was aired. Bajor Imre, Farkasházy Tivadar, Gálvölgyi János, Havas Henrik, Hernádi Judit and Verebes István appeared for charity.

Excluding this there were multiple specials on RTL Klub, as all over the world. Celebrities played on New Year's Eve 2000 (contestants needed to do some funny staff for each other based on the final place of their money tree), couples on 21 December 2001, former big winners on the show's 5th anniversary (15 March 2005), and Millionaire hosted a Women's and Mother's Day game (2007) as well.

On 2 September 2001, a former quiz host and DJ Tibor Dévényi hosted the special game, and drawn a host for István Vágó: another legendary Hungarian game presenter, György Rózsa took the place of him in VisszaVágó (WWTBAM: Riposte). Vágó, called just Quiz Professor in common, stopped after failing to decide the answer for the 12th question 'What kind of creature is asarum?'.

RTL aired some promotive specials with Győzike - Győző Gáspár - and his family (from a gipsy reality show), dancers of Szombat Esti Láz/Dancing With The Stars and players of the first session of ValóVilág/RealWorld (RTL's own reality brand). In 2013, Sándor Friderikusz invited homelesses to the show, and József Leé won a delighting 3,000,000 forints in this game.

Trivia

• The show is one of only three versions of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? worldwide to have a narrator, the others are the Japanese version of the show and Austrian version. Compared to the Japanese version, however, the Hungarian and Austrian narrators only introduce the show and the host. In 2019, narrator was removed but in 2024, narrator was returned.
• The youngest contestant is 16 years old (2003, won 800,000 Ft), the oldest contestant is 76 years old (Albert Sándorné, December 13, 2001, won 1,500,000 Ft).
• In 2000, during the first 25 shows (before the summer break), almost 60 contestants made in hot seat and approximately 3,000,000 ft was won.
• In December 2000, the 100th show aired.
• On October 27, 2003, 500th episode aired.
• On February 12, 2007, the 1,000 episode aired.
• For 1,000 episodes, over than 1,000,000,000 Ft were won. Four contestants only 20,000,000 Ft won.
  • For 1,098 episodes, more than 1,500,000,000 Ft won. 4 contestants 20,000,000 Ft won, 8 contestants 10,000,000 Ft won, 5 contestants 5,000,000 Ft won, as well as many contestants 3,000,000 Ft and 1,500,000 Ft won.
• Hungary is the last country to have with the other versions German, Austrian and Portuguese, the first Dutch intro. Unlike the others, the Hungarian version did not use Dutch graphics but rather black graphics.
