This is the first season of Kto khochet stat' millionerom?, the Russian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. It's hosted by Maxim Galkin. This season Maxim Galkin made his debut as a presenter after the show was renamed from "O, Schastlivchik!" to "Kto khochet stat' millionerom?" and the transition from NTV to Channel One.

- On 2nd episode, contestant Natalya Kirilova saved all three lifelines to 13th question. Also she took the money and used no two lifelines ("50:50" and "Ask the Audience").
- On 4th episode, on Svetlana Chernyshova's 5th question, 37% voted for wrong answer, but only 28% were right. She trusted to majority and walked away with nothing. Also Svetlana is first empty-handed contestant in Maxim Galkin era (name of show in KHSM was changed).
- On 5th episode, contestant Yury Filonov used all three lifelines on his 7th question. In addition, 56% voted for incorrect option, but 30% were right. Yury believed the audience and walked away with 1,000 rubles.
- On 6th episode, Yelena Gubar was asked a question without a correct answer. She decided to walk away with 8,000 rubles, but Maxim Galkin reported an error and apologized to her, telling her that she would continue the game at the 9th question in other episode. After that, in 15th episode, she won 64,000 rubles.
- 7th episode was originally the first filmed episode, but instead aired out of order on 12 March 2001.
- Igor Sazeyev is the first contestant to win the top prize, and the second person to see the final question.
- In 8th episode, second FFF failed.
- In 9th episode, on Olga Shishkova's 4,000 rubles question, 82% for wrong answer, but only 15% were right.
- In 19th episode, on Irina Samartseva's 6th question after "50:50" elimination 58% voted for wrong answer, but other 42% were right.
- Stanislav Sadovin is the second contestant to walked away with nothing in this season.
- Total winnings of two seasons of "O, Schastlivchik!" (1999-2001) and first season of "KHSM" is 7,807,000 rubles. Total winnings in second season of "O, Schastlivchik" (September 2000 - January 2001) and first season of KHSM (February - July 2001) is 5,697,000 rubles.
