Jump the Question was a lifeline introduced on the U.S. version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2010 for the Shuffle Format. It was eventually discontinued in 2015 when the classic format was reintroduced.
Usage[]
From 2010 to 2014, a contestant was given two of these lifelines which allowed them to skip the question entirely and move on to the next question. However, the money hidden behind the question will also be put out of play. In Round 2, the contestant's money would not be augmented to that question's value. For example, if a contestant has $100,000, and they jump the $250,000 question, they will still have the $100,000 and move on to the $500,000 question. If they answer that correctly, their winnings will be increased from $100,000 to $500,000. Unlike other lifelines, this one could not be used on the $1,000,000 question, since it's the last question. Also, other lifelines which were used on a question the contestant eventually decided to jump would not be reinstated.

Bat Away the Question used
When the lifelines got temporarily redesigned for Halloween in 2012, the lifeline depicted a bat instead of an arrow pointing up and was renamed "Bat the Question Away".
For the 2014-2015 season, one of the Jumps was replaced with Plus One, leaving the contestants with only one Jump. When the classic format was reintroduced in 2015, 50:50 returned, replacing the other Jump.
Trivia[]
- Sheri Barberini, Dave Ellis, Joann Chan and Josina Reaves are the only contestants in the shuffle format's history to save two Jumps to Round 2. Sheri and Dave jumped their $100,000 and $250,000 questions, while Joann only jumped her $100,000 before incorrectly answering her $250,000 question.
- Unlike the others, Josina answered her $100,000 question correctly and jumped her $250,000 and $500,000 questions, giving her a straight path to the million-dollar question; however, she answered the million-dollar question incorrectly, causing her to lose $75,000 (as a result of skipping her two previous questions), and walked away with $25,000.
