Ganesh Shinde, a sales supervisor from Kurla, Mumbai, appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati on 13 February 2001 and won Rs. 3,20,000 after becoming the show's first contestant to lose Rs. 4,680,000. Host Amitabh Bachchan warned him not to take a chance as he would have to go home with only Rs 320,000, instead of the 1 Crore he was winning till then.
He later appeared on the Indian version of The Weakest Link, on a special episode with former Kaun Banega Crorepati contestants, but was voted off and won nothing.
