Erudit (Russian: Эрудит) is one of two unlicensed Russian versions of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, aired mainly in Chechnya, a Russian republic in the Causcaus. It has aired since May 2019 on GTRK «Vainakh», a subdivision of Russia-1 (not to be confused with Channel One, the broadcasters of Kto khochet stat' millionerom?).
This version does have a disproportionately high number of top prize winners; however, this version of the game is played for much lower stakes and is based on knowledge of Chechen culture. As such, unlike with other unlicensed versions on this site (such as with the Thai version and Show do Milhão), none of these top prize winners are listed on said page.
Game rules[]
The rules of the game are in many ways similar to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, but there are differences from the original. The game is not played for money, there is no Fastest Finger First, there is no audience in the studio and, accordingly, there is no Ask the Audience lifeline. Players and couples play the game. The player has to answer ten (originally fifteen) questions, as well as photo, video and audio questions, on the history, culture, traditions and customs of Chechnya and the Chechen people, and the Chechen language. The questions have four choices, of which only one is correct. In addition, the player has three lifelines.
Lifelines[]
The player has 3 lifelines, however, needs to start the game by picking any 2 from this list:
- Double Dip
- 50:50
- Phone-a-Friend (since 8th episode)
From the 20th to the 26th episodes, the Ask the Host could also be selected. The host may give a hint once per game, leading to the correct answer (less often - to name the answer itself!).
- Larisa Bokarova is currently the only host in this version to have that lifeline. Since Fatima Bokarova's hosting, that lifeline is currently unavailable.
