Bjørn Lien appeared as a contestant on Season 1 of Vil du bli millionær? Hot Seat, the Norwegian version of Millionaire Hot Seat, on January 19, 2010. He won the top prize of KR 1.000.000, making him the first Norwegian top prize winner since 2003, the first and only top prize winner in the Norwegian Hot Seat format and the last contestant to win the top prize in the Norwegian version of the show.

- Bjørn has said that he played tactically, and as he didn't think he could manage fifteen questions in a row, he passed his sixth question even though he knew the answer, as there was still a good chance he could appear in the chair again.
- He didn't know the last question, and he admitted it was a lucky guess.
- He wanted to use the money to pay off part of his mortgage and take his children to watch a football match in Manchester.
